Each week kinda kind will be featuring a badass who is putting their passion to a purpose and doing something great for the world.
This week’s Kind Badass of the Week is Evan Sanders – Author, Certified Life Coach and Creator of The Better Man Project.
What is your passion?
My passion – truly the answer has changed over the years and it will probably change again somewhere in the future – but where I am now is that I want to spread this message of “fearless love.” I think a lot of people in this world are having a really difficult time because they are afraid to commit to something (whatever that may be). They are deathly afraid of failing and it stops them from pursuing their dreams. The thing is, pursuing your heart’s desires is the exact thing that’s going to lead to fulfillment. So no wonder we have so many unhappy people in this world right? Everyone is pretty much scared to do the thing they know they should be doing. Out of everything, I love seeing people bloom. I love watching them challenge their obstacles and situation and step into something completely new for themselves. My passion is in helping others become something they know they can truly be.
How are you putting your passion to a purpose?
I love story. I think story is one of the most powerful things out there. I love writing stories and sharing them with other people because everyone eventually comes to the idea that we are all connected in some way. Story is one of the most powerful things out there. It can inspire someones heart, make them feel heard, or even change their entire life if they take on a new one. So I write. I write, I create content everywhere I can, and more recently I’ve started to speak and get into video to reach a different audience. But engrained in it all is story.
How did you get started?
5 years ago Feb 9th The Better Man Project was born. Truth is, there wasn’t this huge life-changing moment where everything shifted for me. But it was a decision. A decision to start a new adventure and head in a completely different direction than I was going at the time. At the time, I had just lost my biggest dream – becoming a professional baseball player – because my arm had fallen apart and I had absolutely no idea what to do with my life. There was a “whisper” or a “calling” to discover who I truly was outside of wanting to become a professional athlete, and I figured the best way of doing that was to put the pen to the paper. Originally, the project had started as a 30 day development experiment, but very quickly I realized that this was going to be something I was going to be doing for the rest of my life. So here we are 5 years later.
Why do you do it?
Deep down, it is just a part of me. I love being on my own journey of self-discovery and love connecting with others about their own. What really keeps me going is constantly being on the edge of uncertainty. It’s scary as all hell but thrilling at the same time. I love pushing the envelope and inspiring others to do that in their own life as well.
Favorite thing about what you do?
I love hearing this comment – “I needed this today.” It’s such a simple comment, but there was someone out there who really needed to hear what was said and that could shift their entire day – or even further if you really think of it. I don’t often get to see the impact that I make because of the nature of being in a digital world, but the thought of creating positive ripples in the world really does it for me.
How can others help?
If you like what I have to say, spread the word 🙂
Who are your heroes?
Winston Churchill + Eleanor Roosevelt
If you were a superhero, what would be your superpower?
Honestly…let me fly. Haha! I would love to fly that would be the best thing in the world.
